Would a Kindle Color Accelerate the Digital Comics...
I’ve fully recovered from this mind-bending post from last week, so I can chat about this some more. Robot 6 has even chimed in. And don’t get me wrong; I’m in love with my iPad and everything it does. I’m just curious what the hesitation is for comic readers that haven’t made the jump yet. Let’s throw out some numbers. The cheapest Kindle is $139, while the...

Brit Henry Cavill To Play American Superman. →
parislemon: As a fan of The Tudors, this pleases me. Interesting too that Brits have now been cast as Batman (Christian Bale), Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), and now Superman — all American superheros. (Garfield was born in the U.S., but grew up in England and naturally speaks with a British accent.) The Count of Monte Cristo creates yet another star. Loved that movie.

Robot6: Comics on the Kindle App. →
I have a friend who thinks that Kindle is actually the best way to market comics. “People are already there,” she told me. “That’s where they go to look for books. Why not sell them graphic novels there?” It’s stunningly logical when you think about it. Allow me to pat my own back.

Why Doesn't Amazon Sell Digital Comics? →
n what could be a landmark moment in the struggle between old versus new technology, Amazon has announced that it now sells more copies of its Kindle ebooks than traditional paperbacks. The online retailer, in posting its latest financial results, revealed that paid-for sales of the electronic format outstrip its total sales of paperbacks Kind of a big deal. I know a lot of the comic...

Ishcabittle Kicks Ass: AirPlay in iOS 4.3 →
ishcabittle: And yet we are seeing 4.3 capable applications being admitted to the store, we wouldn’t be crazy to assume the update is fast approaching, would we? It would seem that the crew at the iOS development team lit a bit of a fire under their butts when the full weight of implication came down upon them: Airplay = Applications on AppleTV. Alliteration aside, that’s pretty huge. My...

Ishcabittle: Playstation Suite and Android's fight... →
ishcabittle: What if a future Android release removes an API or framework that the Suite depends on to function? What if Sony updates the Suite to a new version that requires a version of Android that your carrier doesn’t support? It’s going to take a great deal of work and co-operation between these to companies to create a cohesive experience; I hope they are both up to the challenge.

How Microsoft plans to market against the iPad. →
parislemon: Misdirect, stall, and pray. Given what we’re seeing from Apple, Google, HP/Palm, and even RIM in the space, Microsoft is really, really screwed here. Nothing is more depressing than Microsoft’s outlook in the tablet space. It’s insulting to think that no executive seems to think the Metro OS is a capable tablet OS. What market research are they using that says...

Why The $800 Xoom Isn't Outlandish & Your Face.
I was going to talk about this in the second episode of Techsmoke, but the wife wasn’t up for it. She decided to play Plants Vs. Zombies on my iPad instead. Recent reports are surfacing from Verizon itself that the Motorola Xoom, which will run Honeycomb, will be priced in the $800 range. Most Apple Fanboys, unlike myself, are making snarky remarks - chuckling the night away. Not me,...

Skottie Young: Behind the Digital Experiment. →
Here’s where it gets interesting. In 7 days, I’ve sold 391 digital copies. The only promotion I’ve done is on this blog, twitter, facebook, and deviantart. Since I started selling, a few news sites like CBR and iFanboy have done pieces on it. But that’s it. No real push, no real plan. Woke up last friday, no plan to sell anything digital and by noon the same day I was...

iOS 4.3 Beta Suggests iPad 2 Having 1MP Camera. →

De Blieck's Digital Divide. →
I have a new rule I’d like to create. I’ll selfishly refer to it as “De Blieck’s Digital Divide” because I substitute alliteration for creativity. Any comic that sells less than 8,000 copies (I’m amenable to lowering that to 6,000 or even 5,000) through Diamond should automatically be made a day and date digital comic for a dollar less, at least. (I think...

Ishcabittle: Aversion to Sync →
ishcabittle: Would WIFI sync solve it? It seems that most people open their iPhone box, find the USB cable and charger, plug the charger into their bedside table, and that’s that. Instead of just charging at the bedside table, the phone could sync data as well; the user could simply press a button, lock the phone, and roll over. Add me to the list of people that sync their iPhone pretty...

Tumblr Directory
I take a gander at the Tumblr Tech Directory every now and then to find new blogs to follow. Pretty bummed to see that several of the top sites are “recommended” by sites with a gibberish name, no posts, and only follow the blog they “recommended”. If you want people to read your site, publish things worth reading. Don’t cheat the system.

What I Want In An iPad 2 & Your Face.
The next iPad is coming. What do you want it to have? More importantly, what do I want it to have? If you believe the heavy stream of rumors flowing into my Google Reader, it seems that there will be a Retina Display-ish upgrade happening to the LCD. Will it be as good as an iPhone 4, or even the slightly less quality iPod touches? (Slightly lower quality only to supernerds, really.) I’m...

Storm, Forge, Naze, & Your Face.
So, if you’d listened to The Comics Podcast before it went on an indefinite hiatus, you’d know that I’ve started reading Uncanny X-Men from start to now-ish. The books from the 60’s were a tough pill to swallow but I got through them, exclamation points and all. Once Giant Size X-Men #1 kicked in, things hit a new gear. A highly enjoyable gear. I passed through the Phoenix...

LimaSky Withdraws App Store Doodle Restriction. →
Igor says this was only initiated to protect the Doodle Jump trademark - which Lima Sky owns - in certain situations, and to protect the character of The Doodler - also trademarked. Here's How the iPad's New Multitasking Gestures... →
parislemon: And yes, as a few people have pointed out, it does mean you could run the iPad without using the Home button. Though I’m sure we’ll still definitely see one on the iPad 2. Why? Because the new gestures have an option to turn them off. If you do that and there’s no button, then what? Not gonna lie, my pants got tight when I saw people on the Twitter talking about multitasking...
