Listen to nerdcast.LIVE on DROID
-From J-Man
I’m sure there are multiple ways to do this, but this how I got it to work on mine… and for free. It isn’t the best app for the Droid, I’m not sure if this is because the app hasn’t gotten an update for Android 2.0 but it still works. One note before you take these steps, you will only be able to go up to Step 4 when the stream is not on. So you may only be able to input the stream url from 7-8PM Eastern Mondays-Thursdays and 7-9PM Fridays.
Step 1: Go To The Android Market
Step 2: Search for the app “A Online Radio”. It’s just that, an online radio that not only streams radio multiple formats from its library of stations, but also will stream from user inputted websites.
Step 3: Install the app on your Droid… free of charge.
Step 4: Launch the app. At the bottom of the Live column is an option to “Add Channel”. Click on this.
Step 5: In the Channel URL box, insert the following url: http://kiddshow2.serverroom.us:5464/listen.pls The app will see if the stream is up and running. If it is, it will say that it has been added to your favorites… However it won’t allow you to change the name that it comes up at. Mine shows it as “Unnamed Server” when I listened to “The Basement Show” on the stream on Friday night. Again, this will only work if the stream is up.
Step 6: Go to your favorites list and listen to Nerdcast!
Simple as that, am I right? And this comes from Sebastion around the same time as I posed the questions during the original nerdcast.12.
Download the droidlive app, (www.droidlive.com) and then go to www.nerdcast.org and click on the “mobile” link next to “listen live”. Once you’re redirected to the SHOUTcast dnas status checker, click on “listen”.
The Droidlive app will open the stream and you can then listen using that.
